Dr. Barbara Becker Holstein, originator of a unique Selfie Film concept, is accepting Selfie Films submissions for the “Selfie Showcase” and is actively seeking change-makers and mental health professionals for appearance on her podcast

WILMINGTON, NC, October 05, 2019 /Neptune100/ — While adults seem to be somewhat stymied in regards to making real progress with school shootings, lockdowns, bullying and climate change, young people are beginning to take matters into their own hands.

Greta Thunberg’s climate change movement is one of the best examples we have of this. Her efforts have helped young people organize marches all over the world. Taking action can help alleviate the overwhelming anxiety and sense of dread young people hold regarding their future. There is much more that can be done.

Dr. Barbara Becker Holstein, Selfie filmmaker and Positive Psychologist, is a cutting-edge, visionary selfie filmmaker who has garnered over 80 awards and screenings. While all or her work is deeply insightful and wildly entertaining, her goal is to use selfie filmmaking as an entree into helping young people deal with these modern day problems. To that end she recently developed two exciting new concepts – the Selfie Showcase and an ongoing podcast series that allows guests, many of them young people, to discuss these issues frankly, from their own perspective.

The Selfie Showcase, now open for submissions, will allow kids, teens, and young adults ages 13 to 18 to candidly express their concerns, worries, observations and possible solutions by creating selfie films around important subjects, using a smart phone. Selected participants may appear on the Selfie Project Channel, available on Youtube at https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC3uaOTcYF70z5CpBh11VoUQ. They may also appear on SelfieFilmmakers.com, on Holstein’s monthly podcast or perhaps be a part of her next film. Full details, rules for submission and helpful hints can be accessed at the Selfie Filmmakers site at http://www.selfiefilmmakers.com/instructions.

The podcast series is actively seeking change-makers to appear either in person or by call-in. Dr. Holstein is actively seeking guests (members of traditional media, mental health professionals and educators) who can make a real difference in the lives of young people. Guests can arrange to appear by contacting Dr. Holstein directly.

Holstein’s short films have won numerous awards and accolades.
