Award winner and managing military attorney of Court & Carpenter, Stephen H. Carpenter Jr., has served as a Court-Martial Defense Lawyer in addition to publishing a series of articles on the topic of military justice, including A PTSD Primer: When Good Soldiers Do Bad Things; Guantanamo 101: Rejecting Cruel, Unusual and Degrading Justice; and Defending Gay Soldiers Who Defend America.

Carpenter’s academic achievements include a bachelor’s degree in Government and Foreign Affairs from the University of Virginia in 1990 and a Juris Doctor degree in Law from the University of Oregon in 1995.

In Addition, Carpenter has served as an adjunct professor in trial advocacy at the University of Washington, School of Law. During his career, he has also trained oral advocacy techniques for the Attorney General’s Office, the National Institute for Trial Advocacy, the American Bar Association and Seattle Academy.
