“Access Physicians has been delivering the gold standard of inpatient telemedicine for nearly a decade,” said Chris Gallagher, M.D., CEO, Access Physicians. “We are thrilled that Karr is joining our board to help drive our strategy for future growth. His investment acumen and extensive experience working with leading health care companies make him an asset for our organization.”

As pioneers in physician-led, high-acuity, telemedicine, Access Physicians has experienced major growth since its founding in 2011. Its nationwide physician network of more than 650 board-certified and board-eligible specialists and subspecialists have cared for more than 1.7 million high-acuity patients through 240 specialty telemedicine programs in 24 states. In November 2019, Access Physicians closed an equity financing round with Health Enterprise Partners, positioning the organization for nationwide growth and to meet unprecedented demand from hospitals for telemedicine following the outbreak of COVID-19 in the U.S. In just 6 weeks between late August and early October of this year, Access Physicians launched 37 new hospital-based telemedicine programs, including pulmonary and critical care, general neurology and stroke, and cardiology.

“I am excited to join Access Physicians and appreciate the opportunity to support its continuing expansion,” said Mr. Narula. “The company has seen tremendous success over the last 10 years, which is a testament to its values, clinical quality, technology foundation, and commitment to increasing patients’ access to high-quality, specialty care. Telemedicine is an increasingly critical component of the health care ecosystem, and I look forward to working with this exceptional team to help expand its reach and impact.”
