PALO ALTO, CA/TOKYO, JAPAN, February 23, 2021 /Neptune100/ — Moon Creative Lab, a human-centered venture studio, co-headquartered in Palo Alto and Tokyo, today announced the appointment of Charles Adler as Global Head of Product.

Moon Creative Lab, founded in 2018, powers the creation of new businesses. Moon’s mission is to help Mitsui & Co. in its pursuit to become a more future-forward, entrepreneurial company. As Global Head of Product, Adler will oversee all aspects of product within the organization and its ventures. Specifically, he will ensure that all projects and teams within Moon are building innovative, human-centered solutions through an entrepreneurial mindset. Prior to Moon, Adler co-founded Kickstarter and Lost Arts, two startups synonymous with empowering creators globally, bringing new projects to life, disrupting several verticals along the way.

Kickstarter, the ground-breaking crowdfunding platform, revolutionized how creative projects are funded globally. Since inception in 2009, Kickstarter has raised upwards of $4.7B from 17M+ people for over 175,000 successful projects.

“We are thrilled to have a leader of Charles’ caliber join Moon Creative Lab, leveraging his experience to inspire others, provide guidance and play a vital role in developing a strong startup ecosystem within Moon,” said Kaichi Yokoyama, CEO, Moon Creative Lab. “We see significant opportunities for growth ahead and I know Charles will be a key part in that effort to help transform the people of Mitsui & Co. and approach new business opportunities with bold thinking.”

After stepping down from Head of Design at Kickstarter in 2013, Adler founded Lost Arts, an early-stage startup building tools for creatives to connect and conspire. As a serial entrepreneur, designer and technologist, Adler previously co-founded the online art publication Subsystence, and founded Source ID, where he operated as Principal Creative Director from 2003 to 2009. Forbes, Vanity Fair and Complex have all named Adler one of the most disruptive figures in business today. He currently serves as a board member of the Design Museum of Chicago, Wabash Lights, and several non-profits. Additionally, Adler advises several startups and venture capital funds including Iterate, Character, and the Designer Fund.

“Bringing my perspective and experience to Moon’s mission fascinates me. We’re building amazing Product, Design and Engineering teams that are challenging the status quo, bringing brilliant ideas to market,” said Charles Adler, Global Head of Product, Moon Creative Lab. “My career has been defined by creative and cultural empowerment through the use of technology.
