Classroom systems developed by Wisconsin company Realityworks, Inc. recognized for their positive impact on education

EAU CLAIRE, WI, May 01, 2020 /Neptune100/ — Realityworks, Inc. announces that their Hydroponics Educational Systems have earned an Honorable Mention in the Education category of Fast Company’s 2020 World Changing Ideas Awards. The annual competition honors businesses and organizations driving change in the world; winners are selected from experts in entrepreneurship, philanthropy, venture capital, activism and more. Realityworks’ Hydroponics Educational Systems were recognized for helping teachers make an impact in the classroom – with these easy-to-use systems, teachers are engaging more students in the farm-to-school movement, high-tech agriculture concepts, growing healthy food and more.

“We are thrilled to be selected as an honorable mention in Fast Company’s 2020 World Changing Ideas Awards,” said Timm Boettcher, Realityworks President and CEO. “Our mission is to provide products that engage students in workforce needs while improving social, emotional, and physical health through interactive technology. Our Hydroponics Educational Systems, inspired by teachers’ need for learning aids that address STEM and sustainability, are a great example of that.”

Realityworks’ Hydroponics Educational Systems are available in two sizes so teachers can easily grow fresh, healthy food in their classrooms. The larger Plant Producer Educational Hydroponics System is designed to grow production-level quantities of greens, ideal for farm-to-school programs where significant quantities of produce are needed. The smaller Plant Lab Educational Hydroponics System is designed to enable experimentation with varying quantities of fruits, vegetables and herbs on a smaller scale. Based on feedback from teachers, both systems include lesson plans and teaching materials, and arrive almost fully assembled. Their sleek design accommodates limited classroom space, yet both can grow several plants on each shelf.

“We have heard from teachers that some kids have never seen green lettuce, and many know little to nothing about healthy eating habits,” said Jamey McIntosh, Realityworks Product Manager. “Instructors are looking for new and innovative ways to get help students develop skills that will help them in life and in careers, and we’re seeing these systems do exactly that. The farm-to-school movement is impactful. Hydroponics can help grow that concept year-round in schools.”

Realityworks’ Hydroponics Educational Systems belong to a product line focused on bringing realism into the classroom and engaging today’s students while teaching in-demand skills and offering career exploration. Realityworks continues to look for other product development opportunities to engage today’s students in needed careers within CTE, STEM, and in areas with a skills gap.
