John Foy & Associates is pleased to announce the recipient of the Survivor Of A Car Accident Scholarship

ATLANTA, GA, April 15, 2020 /Neptune100/ — John Foy & Associates, Atlanta-based personal injury attorney firm, is announcing its first recipient of the Survivor of a Car Accident Scholarship, Andrew Hattling, 18, of Elk River, Minn. Hattling is a high school senior who will attend Hamline University in St. Paul this fall.

John Foy & Associates is one of Atlanta’s largest personal injuries firms. Over the years, this firm has witnessed the devastating aftermath of car accidents. Founder John Foy wanted to help young survivors continue their college education with a $1,000 scholarship.

Hattling was one of almost 100 applicants. His winning essay described a devastating accident. One winter night, he had driven his grandmother to dialysis, drove her home and stayed for dinner. On the way to his house, a stranger threw himself in front of Hattling’s car, hit the windshield and died. Hattling learned that the man had thrown himself in front of other cars that night.

Being an unsuspecting part of someone’s suicide was devastating.

“I knew I was not at fault, but I still felt the pain,” Hattling wrote.

He turned to his faith, reading the New Testament twice. He read dozens of books and listened to hundreds of hours of podcasts. The accident’s aftermath became even more when he found himself portrayed as a reckless teen.

Andrew is captain of two sports teams. He took advantage of Minnesota’s program to earn college credits while in high school, and received an AA from Anoka-Ramsey Community College before graduating from Spectrum High School in Elk River.

Hattling found solace in his favorite musical, “Hamilton,” which restored the reputation of one of America’s first public servants. His essay’s title is the musical’s finale, “Who Lives, Who Dies, Who Tells Your Story.”

In 2015, the firm established the John Foy & Associates Strong Arm Leukemia Scholarship for students who have been affected by leukemia.
