A special series of Retreats and Vocation Events designed for single Catholic professional women, 20-32 throughout 2020.
GREEN BAY, WI, March 04, 2020 /Neptune100/ — The retreats have been developed for the particular needs and desires of those discerning a life change, calling to consecrated life or career decision.
March 14 Silent Discernment of Spirits Day at the Valley of Our Lady Cistercian Monastery, Prairie du Sac in south central WI. Cistercian Nuns and Franciscan Sisters offer a day specially designed to provide retreatants with tools to discern how God speaks to them, and discover how they are called. Franciscan Sister Jacqueline Spaniola leads the retreat, based on St. Ignatius’ discernment process. Begins with 7:45 Mass (optional) and closes with 5:00 prayer. The Sisters and Nuns will gladly take time for questions and answers. Draw on the wisdom of three saints: Benedict, Francis and Ignatius who each faced dramatic decisions as young adults.
March 20-22 Lenten Franciscan Discernment at Holy Family Convent in N.E. Wisconsin. Arrive in time for the Sacrament of Reconciliation at 4 p.m. followed by Evening Prayer. Or be at our Wisconsin Motherhouse at 5:30 p.m. for dinner with some of our new Sisters in Formation. Sister Anne Marie Lom will begin the weekend with a talk, followed by Stations of the Cross at 7 p.m. There is no cost for the retreats, but registration required.
Sr. Jacqueline explained that “We go through the Discernment of Spirits’ twenty two rules to help us know when God is speaking to us, or when other spirits are speaking to us. We take some scripture quotes for each of those rules. And the retreatants have time to go and pray, and make it part of their lives…to see how the spirit is moving in their lives at the present time.
“It’s not just for a vocation. It’s for ‘should I move, should I get a new job, should I make an important decision that you don’t want to make just overnight.”
Many have said that the rules of discernment have helped them in their daily lives. And the retreat has helped them to make decisions about what to do – a life changing factor in their life.”
