Jackson Design and Remodeling Advances to the National Competition, with Winners Announced during the 2021 NARI Awards Reception April 30

SAN DIEGO, CA, February 12, 2021 /Neptune100/ — Jackson Design and Remodeling announced today that the company has won three 2021 Regional Contractor of the Year (CotY) Awards from the National Association of the Remodeling Industry (NARI). This is the 16th consecutive year that JDR has been honored for its work by NARI, and the three winning regional projects now advance to the national finals, which will be announced April 30 at the NARI 2021 CotY Awards virtual ceremony, part of NARI’s annual member’s conference.

The CotY’s are considered one of the highest honors in the home design and remodeling industry. The firm’s work was selected from over 435 entries across the United States and won in three categories: Stylish form meets maximum function in JDR’s whole home remodel for a couple relocating to San Diego, which captured the win in the Entire House $500,001 to $750,000 category. The stunning renovation of a dark and dreary kitchen and living space to a spirited, seaside-inspired cooking haven earned the win in the Residential Interior $100,000 to $250,000 category. And a bright kitchen with mod style took the top honor in the Residential Kitchen $100,001 to $150,000 category.

“This year’s submissions were outstanding, making the job of our esteemed judges very difficult,” said Tracy Wright, Senior Director of Membership and Chapter Services at NARI. The judging panel representing industry experts from across the country selected winners in 7 regions, based on problem solving, functionality, aesthetics, craftsmanship, innovation and degree of difficulty. A San Diego company, JDR is part of NARI’s Southwest Region and its three winning projects will automatically advance to the national finals.

JDR’s 2021 Three Winning Projects are:

Playful Modern: Entire House $500,001 to $750,000
This extensive whole home remodel for a family relocating to a new city transformed outdated style and a cramped layout into a stunning haven for the clients and their young son. The couple loved the location and the “bones” of the existing home but were eager for a dramatic transformation of its space planning and design. During the comprehensive remodel, the clients lived in the Midwest and flew out to San Diego once a month to make materials selections and see the project progress, requiring a strong relationship of trust between clients and designer.

Joyful Coastal: Residential Interior $100,000 to $250,000
With colors inspired by sea glass and sand dunes, this kitchen designed for a retired beach loving client and her cherished dog welcomes cooking, entertaining and visits from her daughters. Universal design elements were subtly integrated for aging in place. Previously dark and cramped, the kitchen is now full of natural light and open to a dining area, a cozy living space with a dramatic fireplace, and a pretty backyard. A stunning Arabesque pattern backsplash and a countertop with a “big wave” pattern are thoughtful design details. This organized and inviting kitchen communicates a cheerful seaside spirit.

Brilliant Mod Kitchen: Residential Kitchen $100,001 to $150,000
The U-shaped kitchen in a 60-year-old home had limited workspace and a structural column in the middle of the space that significantly obstructed navigation. Entertaining is an essential aspect of the clients’ lifestyle. They wanted to engage with guests in a stylish space while cooking and playing their beautiful piano. The JDR team balanced mod inspiration and universal design considerations with multiple open points of entry. Multilevel countertops and waterfalls give this kitchen’s island an appealing sculptural asymmetry illuminated by the surprise of a brilliant Sputnik chandelier.
