Celebrating the 5th year of creating the next generation of leaders that are civic and community minded, and academic focused. The 4th Annual Charity Golf Outing will be held on September 16th to raise funds to support this outstanding organization.

LANDOVER, MD, August 06, 2019 /Neptune100/ — In 2015, when E. Davon Kelly conceived his legacy organization, the 13th Man, he could not imagine how deeply he would impact the lives of more than 300 young black men. The 13th Man is the manifestation of a question that was posed to the successful entrepreneur and CEO of NOVAD Management Consulting: What will be your legacy? “I remember the first year when 42 young men signed up for this adventure. Now, we have a second chapter in Charlotte, NC (established in 2017). This year, between the two chapters, we hosted 128 young men who were eager to participate in the 4-day, life-changing exploration of leadership and empowerment, 45% returned from previous years. I am proud of the young men that have participated in The 13th Man – every year define my legacy.”

Davon Kelly is an avid believer that for many young men, athletics is a forum that embraces their energy, raw talent and innate need to belong to and excel at something where they can succeed. Over the last five years, Kelly has fine-tuned his “winning combination” of leadership lessons and team sports. A former high school and college basketball athlete since 2003, he has taught the value of sportsmanship as an assistant varsity basketball coach at Episcopal High School in Alexandria, VA.

The fifth Annual 13th Man Summer Classic was held at the Marriott Conference Center in Hyattsville, Maryland from July 25th to July 28, 2019. Since its inception, young men between the ages of 12-18 have received free lodging, meals, and a program focused on empowerment, development and leadership engagements. The 13th Man strives to create the next generation of well-rounded leaders that are civic and community minded, and academic focused. The organization accomplishes this goal by instilling leadership skills, providing mentoring, personal development, and enrichment activities throughout the year. A cadre of alumni members return to help photograph, chaperon, and lead teams during the Summer Classics program.
