Kalamazoo regional director promoted to True Michigan director

DETROIT, MI, November 03, 2020 /Neptune100/ — True Lacrosse, the nation’s premier lacrosse organization, values employing the best directors and coaches in the country, which is why they are more than excited to announce they have promoted Justin Shipp to the new director of True Lacrosse Michigan.

“I’m more than excited to take on this role,” Shipp explained. “We have some big things in the works, and I am excited to help bring more opportunities and guidance to our Michigan players as well as work with the incredible staff we have here at True Michigan.”

In this role, Shipp is responsible for the entire state’s programs, training, event facilitation, and more. And, he is already working on bringing big things to True Michigan players that will offer more opportunities to the players and families. Shipp is developing a second wave of tryouts coming in November for the Grand Rapids area and December for the Detroit area for players interested in joining the program. Those in the Grand Rapids area will once again get the chance to attend the School of Lax starting in November. But that’s not all, both the Grand Rapids and Detroit areas will get the opportunity to train at the Elite Academy. And, be sure to mark your calendars for Nov. 7 because you won’t want to miss the Mighty Ducks Tryouts for Box Lacrosse in Grand Rapids.

To say Shipp has a passion for the game may be an understatement. He has spent the last five years with True Michigan with four as the Kalamazoo regional director and two as the operations director for all of Michigan. His background and credentials aren’t the only reasons Shipp is a perfect candidate for this position. He is also the head coach of Westen Michigan University men’s lacrosse team that competes at the MCLA Dl level. Shipp is also responsible for the creation of the South West Michigan Youth Lacrosse Conference. Currently, he is also working on a brand new program they hope to release this spring that will provide a new low-cost option for young players to break into the game. Shipp has also coached lacrosse at both youth and high school level and played for WMU in college.

“We couldn’t be more excited for the new opportunities Director Shipp is bringing to our True Michigan players and families,” said Mike Gabel, co-owner of True Lacrosse. “As an organization, we work to bring the best to the best, and with promoting Justin to this role, we believe we’ve done just that.”
