EC-Council University (ECCU) partners with Bay River College (BRC) to enable students to transfer to ECCU from BRC and vice versa.

WASHINGTON, DC, September 21, 2020 /Neptune100/ — To help empower the growing cybersecurity workforce in the US and Canada, EC-Council University (ECCU) has partnered with Bay River College (BRC), Canada. As a part of this agreement, students can transfer their credits earned between ECCU and BRC.

Canada has seen a significant increase in demand for cybersecurity professionals over the last few years and its government has created an extensive plan to be a secure cyber nation. In 2019, the Canadian Anti-Fraud Centre reported that $98M was taken from Canadians by cybercriminals. Globally, Cybersecurity Ventures predicts cybercrime is expected to reach $6 trillion by 2021. A recent study by the Information Communications Technology Council (ICTC) revealed that Canada will need to fill approximately 100,000 cybersecurity jobs by 2022. Among those in-demand jobs include ethical hackers and threat intelligence practitioners.

The purpose of this partnership is to introduce cybersecurity education through ECCU’s undergraduate courses to the students of BRC and to address the growing concern of cybersecurity in Canada. By leveraging ECCU’s world class cybersecurity curriculum, this partnership will create a skilled cybersecurity workforce at the undergraduate level of BRC. ECCU and BRC are both committed to serving their students with the best that industry can offer, the learning and development of students being the main priority for both institutions.

“The need for skilled professionals is a global issue. We know that collaboration and partnership is key to creating a job-ready highly skilled workforce. Bay River is an important part of our goal to help mitigate both Canada’s and our global demand for cybersecurity professionals who are needed to protect our economies, our critical infrastructure and our citizens,” said Heather MacLean, Country Manager at EC-Council University.

“We are excited to partner with EC-Council University. This agreement will not only help the students of Bay River College learn and develop necessary cybersecurity skills but will also make them industry-ready with the inclusion of the industry certifications within their courses,” says Arshad Mahmood, President and CEO, Bay River College.
