EC-Council University announces the Cyber Security Hero’s Scholarship to thank all U.S. Veterans and First Responders for their service to the country. Through this scholarship, the university will cover 10% of the tuition.

ALBUQUERQUE, NM September 18, 2020 /Neptune100/ — In its continuing effort to provide steadfast support for U.S. Veteran students, EC-Council University has announced a Cybersecurity Hero Scholarship. This scholarship is designed to provide tuition assistance to new or current undergraduate and graduate students from a military or first responder background. The scholarship was created to thank our Heroes and their families for their service to the community and country.

“With the recent uptake in targeted cyberattacks amidst the pandemic, the demand for qualified cybersecurity professionals not only remains strong but is also increasing by the day,” says Lata Bavisi, President of EC-Council University. She added, “veterans are the ideal candidates for the cybersecurity industry because they not only have a strong commitment to protecting our national security, but they also understand the need to safeguard every individual.”

According to the U.S. Department of Labor, as of 2019, there were 284,000 unemployed veterans. Veterans (Army, Navy, Marine Corps, Air Force, Coast Guard, etc.) who have served in the U.S. forces often have a hard time settling into their civilian lives. Recognizing this challenge, EC-Council University is taking this step to encourage veterans to join an in-demand career that is suited to their critical-thinking ability.

“The establishment of military-affiliated scholarships at EC-Council University is an outstanding effort in our continued evolution of supporting our students. Time and time again, we’ve had vets approach us as their benefits ran out or didn’t cover enough for them to achieve their academic and professional dreams,” says Lata Bavisi, President of EC-Council University. “The Cybersecurity Hero’s Scholarship is a direct result of ECCU trying to help our students achieve success.”
At the end of the program, scholarship recipients will have the skills needed to apply for opportunities in cybersecurity. These include highly technical cyber jobs such as security analysts, security engineers, security auditors, and security architects. The various programs focus on certifications like Certified Network Defender (CND), Certified Ethical Hacker (CEH), Computer Hacking Forensics Investigator (CHFI), Certified Threat Intelligence Analyst (CTIA), Certified SOC Analyst (CSA), TestOut Security Pro, TestOut Linux PRO, EC-Council Certified Security Analyst (ECSA), Licensed Penetration Tester (LPT), EC-Council | Disaster Recovery Professional, EC-Council Information Security Manager (EISM), Certified Chief Information Security Officer (CCISO), and EC-Council Certified Incident Handler (ECIH).

The scholarship will cover 10% of the tuition fee through the program of study. To be eligible, applicants must (a) meet all university admission requirements as delineated in the ECCU Catalog, (b) submit a formal request letter addressing the following topics: the reason for requesting the award, personal and professional goals, a brief personal and professional history/biography, provide full contact information, the letter must be free of mechanical errors, grammatically correct, and appropriately formatted as academic professionalism in writing is considered as part of need basis; and (c) Each applicant must submit verification of military service (DD214) or letter of employment verification from police or fire department and evidence of being a spouse or child of such an employee, if applicable.
