Additional funds will help Tourism Office better promote attractions, destinations and events throughout Somerset County, budget more efficiently for marketing initiatives.

BRIDEWATER, NJ, November 01, 2019 /Neptune100/ — Somerset County Tourism—the official destination marketing organization (DMO) for Somerset County, N.J., and a Division of the Somerset County Business Partnership—has announced that the organization has received a $6,000 grant increase from the New Jersey Division of Travel & Tourism. The award represents 5% growth over the prior grant period, and has also been extended to three years instead of two. It is retroactive to July 1, 2019 and runs through June 30, 2022.

“Somerset Tourism has seen a $30,000 increase in DMO grant awards since 2011,” said Jackie Morales, who became head of the Somerset County Tourism office that year. “The additional funds from this current award will help us to better promote all the attractions, destinations and events throughout Somerset County, and the longer time frame will enable us to budget more efficiently for our marketing initiatives.”

Morales explained that the new three-year funding model is in response to feedback from New Jersey Destination Marketing Organizations (NJDMO), the statewide association of DMOs. “The three-year period now aligns New Jersey DMO grant awards with those of state arts and history grant awards. Coupled with the increased funding, this will strengthen our collaboration with our community and County partners in our shared mission to promote Somerset County’s tourism options to the public,” she said. Somerset County, in the heart of New Jersey, offers diverse amenities and experiences to leisure and business travelers, as well as county residents.

Morales invites all Somerset County tourism entities to provide input on the county’s destination marketing strategy for the coming year. She can be reached at the Somerset County Business Partnership’s offices in Bridgewater at (908) 218-4300.
