“My vision for Dance & Romance was to create a movement to connect music to heal the world and by aiding in the fight to find a cure for cancer. After reading an article in the Journal of the National Comprehensive Cancer Network, I learned that research for some of the most deadliest cancers are underfunded compared with others so I decided to use my platform to do my part. Additionally, quality education for all during Covid-19 has been quite challenging and the opportunity for HBCUs to fundraise has taken a hit. Being raised in a household of educators, I truly understand the importance of education. I opened the door to partner with the National Alumni of Alabama State University and Central State University to support their education efforts,” explains Melvin Riley.

The mission of Alabama State University National Alumni Association, Inc. (NAA) is to promote the interests of Alabama State University and establish mutually beneficial relations between the University and its alumni, and assist in the advancement of educational opportunities for the University. The NAA gives both financial and non-financial support to the University through the ASU Foundation, the Admissions & Recruitment Office, athletics, and other programs and activities that promote the interests of the University.

Central State University, an 1890 land-grant institution, prepares students with diverse backgrounds and experiences for leadership, research, and service.
