Board-certified ophthalmologist and oculoplastic specialist serves patients at locations in Scranton and Forty Fort, Pennsylvania

SCRANTON, PA, October 23, 2019 /Neptune100/ — Northeastern Eye Institute (NEI) announced on Monday that Dr. Joseph Giacometti is the newest eye specialist to join the practice. Dr. Giacometti specializes in plastic and reconstructive surgery of the eyes and upper face. He serves patients at the NEI offices in Scranton and Forty Fort, Pennsylvania.

Dr. Giacometti earned his undergraduate degree at the University of Pennsylvania and completed medical school at Thomas Jefferson University in Philadelphia. He received specialty training in ophthalmology at Yale University, followed by a fellowship in ophthalmic plastic and reconstructive surgery in Houston at Baylor College of Medicine.

Certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology, Dr. Giacometti is also a member of the American Society of Ophthalmic Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery. According to the ASOPRS website, this elite organization only admits board-certified ophthalmologists and other physicians who are “highly trained and uniquely qualified to improve facial beauty and function while protecting ocular health and vision.”

Dr. Giacometti performs a wide range of oculoplastic surgery procedures. These include cosmetic brow lift and blepharoplasty, which can not only rejuvenate the appearance of the eyelids but correct vision issues stemming from eyelids that droop with age. Other oculofacial procedures Dr. Giacometti performs include reconstruction of the eyelid and eye socket, biopsy and excision of tumors around the eye, tear duct surgery for improved tear production, and more.
