Regional Winners Advance to the National Competition and will be Announced during the 2020 NARI Awards Reception April 24 in St. Pete, Florida

SAN DIEGO, CA, February 19, 2020 /Neptune100/ — Jackson Design and Remodeling (JDR) announced today the company has won three 2020 Southwest Regional Contractor of the Year (CotY) Awards from the National Association of the Remodeling Industry (NARI). The CotYs are the first major industry awards program of 2020 and typically act as an indicator for the projects that will top podiums for the rest of the year. JDR claimed top honors for a whole home remodel with stunning bay views in the Entire House – $750,001 to $1,000,000 category, the transformation of a Mid-Century Modern ranch home in the Entire House – $500,001 to $750,000 category, and a master bathroom that dazzled judges in the Residential Bath $75,001 to $100,000 category.

Each year, contractors from seven regions around the country vie for regional CotY awards, with winners advancing to the highly competitive national awards program, which takes place this year in St. Pete Beach, Florida, at the NARI Annual Conference in April.

JDR’s 2020 three winning projects are:

Fresh Bay View – Entire House $750,001 to $1,000,000
A globe-trotting retired couple living in a hillside home in Point Loma with spectacular views of the San Diego bay, came to the JDR team for an extensive whole home remodel. The existing home was disjointed and compartmentalized, with little connection to its beautiful surroundings on the coast. Built in 1936 on a slope which presented considerable challenges, it had been remodeled twice over the years, with additions that didn’t consider cohesiveness or flow. The clients wanted to respect the home’s Spanish design origins while completely transforming it to suit their modern lifestyle. On the exterior, curb appeal was significantly enhanced with careful attention to cohesiveness in a balance of modern and Spanish design. The interior of the home was dramatically opened up and reimagined as three levels with three distinctive living areas including expansive suites. The color palette is inspired by the home’s coastal location with a design focused on capturing amazing views. This bright open home now embraces stunning natural surroundings as a design element and reflects a bayside lifestyle that is both comfortable and sophisticated.

Rejuvenated Mid-Century Whole Home – Entire House $500,001 to $750,000
A neglected, Mid-Century, rustic ranch home with good structure and stunning natural surroundings was restored to its original purpose as a beautiful family home. Lived in by one owner and left untouched for decades, the existing home was like entering a time warp. Wood paneling, old carpeting, and several floor levels were indicative of the decade when the home was first built. The front exterior was hidden by volumes of overgrown shrubbery while the back exterior featured similarly neglected greenery and an abandoned koi pond. While staying within its existing footprint to retain its sense of place in a neighborhood of similar dwellings, this home was dramatically transformed. Curb appeal is now bold and modern with a cleared out front yard and a sweeping driveway framing the home and leading to a bright front door. The exterior retains some of the original ideas, such as stone trim, but updates them in a fresh, modern style. Inside the home, the layout was reconfigured, and all levels were evened out to create one open and welcoming space. The outdoor living area is now a rejuvenating place to enjoy amazing views over a canyon and beyond to the ocean.

Textural Modern Master Bathroom – Residential Bath $75,001 to $100,000
An empty nest couple who share love for their two cats and three dogs (both are veterinarians) wanted their master bathroom to be a luxurious human retreat with a “wow” factor. The existing bathroom was dark and outdated, offered very little storage, and was dominated by a cat “patio.” The new design strategically balances complex textures and a subtle color palette. A masterful mix of materials layers visual interest throughout the space. The tub was replaced with a sumptuous shower combining three types of tile. Natural light flows through the space, augmented by cylinder sconces on the backsplash of aloe green handmade tile. A striking quartzite countertop is a focal point in the room, distinguished by bold stripes of ebony against natural tones of gray and brown. A modern space infused with inviting warmth, this master bathroom is a restful and rejuvenating haven with gorgeous details.
