Innovative teleHealth model provides uninsured families in need with on-demand 24/7 access to physicians or counselors from anywhere… for FREE.
ATLANTA, GA, October 02, 2019 /Neptune100/ — Giving Health, a Georgia based nonprofit, is providing Atlanta’s working poor and uninsured a Free telehealth solution to address the critical national healthcare problem of access to quality, affordable healthcare. According to the US Census, 28.5 million people have NO healthcare insurance, with Georgia accounting for more than 1.3 million. “I’ve been guiding healthcare foundations for nearly 5 decades in transacting billions of dollars to open, close, and combine hospitals. I’ve seen no solution that rivals what Giving Health can do in addressing the longstanding barriers that are adversely impacting healthcare access for underserved communities in such an effective and scalable manner,” states Giving Health Chairman David Whelan.
A recent Kaiser Family Foundation study concluded, people without insurance coverage have worse access to care than people who are insured. One in five uninsured adults went without needed medical care due to cost. The uninsured are less likely than those with insurance to receive preventive care and services for major health conditions and chronic diseases.
“Our telehealth solution provides medical, mental health, and discounted prescription services. It’s really easy to use. Patients can access care by phone, or as a face-to-face consultation via the internet or mobile device,” states COO Michael Giglio. “We are proud to deliver on demand access to a network of Georgia licensed Physicians and Counselors, who are available live 24/7 – 365 days a year, within a matter of minutes.”
A successful one year pilot program in cooperation with Good Samaritan Health Center, and the Veterans Empowerment Organization concluded in 2018. Giving Health and its community partners will next focus on raising funds to provide its free telehealth service to an additional estimated 20,000 uninsured individuals and families living in Atlanta. The sponsor cost to fund this service for a family of up to 8 members will be a tax deductible donation of only $99 which provides unlimited on-demand access for one year. A public sponsorship campaign and crowdfund will kick off on November 1st to raise these funds.
Giving Health is working with partners like Good Samaritan Health Center of Atlanta and the Westside Health Collaborative to identify individuals and families in need who can benefit from this program. Giving Health will also allow uninsured members of the Atlanta community to register themselves for Free, beginning in October, through a simple mobile text registration process or by registering on the organization’s website; www.GivingHealth.org
“Our goal is to effectively enable families to take back control of their own health and well-being. Our solution will address healthcare access challenges that are adversely impacting underserved communities all across America – one family at time – beginning right here in Atlanta.” David Whelan CEO Giving Health Inc..
