Global Air Charters supports a Minnesota company and purchases protective masks for their crew

SAINT PAUL, MN, May 06, 2020 /Neptune100/ — Investing in our communities and small businesses is a great way to give back and support others through the COVID-19 pandemic. Global Air Charters, a small business itself, is creatively adapting to the times and aiming to support the passionate businesses around us. While air travel is looking different these days, GAC is working hard to ensure a safe and healthy flight experience for all crew members and passengers needing to travel. In addition to maintaining sanitized aircrafts, safe food handling, applying hand sanitizer, and consistent use of hand washing, GAC has purchased washable protective masks for its entire crew from Heimie’s Haberdashery. GAC learned from Twin Cities Today News Show that Heimie’s Haberdashery, in downtown St. Paul, is making custom facemasks during the current stay-at-home order.

For over 100 years, this Saint Paul retail cornerstone has provided the finest hand-selected silks and fabrics, taking pride in the traditional classic attire with permanence to style and fashion. “When you walk in, it looks like you’ve stepped back in time on the streets of London,” says GAC Director of Operations, Paul Rodsjo. Filled with breathtaking antiques, a gun shop, a fly-fishing shop, a shoeshine station, and even hair cutting and shaving chairs in their barbershop, Heimie’s Haberdashery provides a timeless atmosphere along with upscale, unique clothing for men and women.

The owner and Heimie’s great-grandson, Anthony, has had to lay off all employees except his wife and the tailors. Heimie’s Habidashery specializes in tailored clothing; however, Anthony and his remaining staff are designing protective masks to help stay in business during the shutdown. “The concept is to provide masks that are upscale, in-brand, and that support a small local business in the process,” Anthony stated. The masks are custom made from beautiful silk or cotton fabric, in a variety of colors and patterns. GAC has selected both silk and cotton fabrics. Crew members can wash and reuse the masks as necessary for professional and leisure purposes.

“We are proud to work with a company owned by a gentleman who is as passionate about his business as we are at GAC. We’re all in this together and trying to support one another in the hopes that other small businesses like ours can weather the storm,” said GAC President, Todd Vollhaber.

Since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic, Global Air Charters – an essential business — has focused on flying physicians and nurses on humanitarian missions, moving medical supplies, returning executive travelers and pro sports teams to their home countries in Europe and Asia, and returning Americans home. In a challenging environment, our valued employees have pulled together to keep operations going with no layoffs to date.
